The Resident Inspector Program is used to provide information to individuals who are interested in participating in the Resident Inspections training Program, also known as “Uber Inspections”.

**Do not use this program to assign requests for any type of inspections.**

P**rogram Steps:**

Step 2: Candidates who wish to do so may self-study for the International Code Council ICC Property Maintenance certification exam (#64);

Step 3: Pass the International Code Council ICC Property Maintenance certification exam (#64);

Step 4: Provide a copy of your active ICC / AACE Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification and contact information to the DOB Resident Inspections Information email box [riinfo.dcra@dc.gov](mailto:riinfo.dcra@dc.gov)

Step 5: Receive a phone call and email from DOB to enroll into 6 hours of training associated with our DCMR (local code) 2013 District of Columbia Property Maintenance Code [https://codes.iccsafe.org/content/chapter/9095/](https://codes.iccsafe.org/content/chapter/9095/)

Step 6: Follow the steps for Option A as outlined on the Metropolitan Police Department webpage. https://mpdc.dc.gov/service/police-clearances-arrest-and-criminal-history-section their hours are Monday-Friday: 9 am - 5 pm, Fee is $7 (cash or money orders only, payable to DC Treasurer; no credit cards or personal checks)

Step 7: Once you obtain your background check from Metropolitan Police Department please email it to DOB HR department at [dcrahrdivision@dc.gov](mailto:dcrahrdivision@dc.gov)  

Step 8: Monitor your email for your suitability confirmation

Step 9: Complete field supervised inspection requirements

Step 10: Become an inspector and begin working.
